Records: Biz Markie - Goin' Off 12"s

Nobody beats the Biz! The Juice Crew's Biz Markie is one of the original characters in Hip-Hop. For real, I can't think of another artist that compares to him. The dude rapped about doo doo, picking his nose, rapping on the toilet, liking a girl who dissed him for her "friend", and all kinds of other bugged out shit during an era when bravado on the mic was what made an MC. He even made a hit record using the jingle from an electronic store commercial (check the Wiz commercial below). His debut album Goin' Off couldn't have been more appropriately titled. Add to all that the fact he had the most retarded dance and had everybody doing the "Biz" and I challenge you to think of another artist that was on his own shit like Biz Markie in the late 80's and early 90's. Here are all the singles from Biz's first album. Like I said, nobody beats the BIZ!!

Classic Material: BDP & Biz Markie Live In Toronto (1987)

A quick glimpse of BDP and Biz rocking in Toronto at The Opera House back in '87. The crazy part is how Scott LaRock has some shit to say at the end of the show.

Rap Treats #62: Kid Wizard @ Wyandanch High School (1985)

The year is 1985. The location is the Wyandanch High School gymnasium. The performers are Kid Wizard, Biz Markie, MC Chilly Dawg, Grandwizard BMC & DJ Fantasy. Oh yeah, Kid Wizard is the God Rakim Allah!

This one is crazy to me simply for that reason alone. This was just before Ra and Eric B made their debut and Rakim, uh, I mean Kid Wizard, spits his '7 MC's" verse. I've included the recording of both the full party as well as just Ra's appearance. Doesn't get much more nerdy on the rap tip than this one. Thanks to OldSchoolHipHopTapes for being so incredible and jackable!

Records: De La Soul - Clear Lake Audiotorium EP & Buhloon Mind State 12"s

This was a promotional only 12" that is more like an EP. Four of the songs are from the Buloone Mind State album, but "Sh.Fe.Mc's" and "Stix & Stonez" were brand new tracks available only on this record. Plus it was on clear vinyl so it was extra fresh. I also included the "Breakadawn" 12" and the "Ego Trippin' (Part II)" 12" that had the unreleased Biz track. That's all the 12"s from Buhloon Mind State. You gotta love how De La went out of their way to give something extra on each single with the remixes and unreleased songs.
